Painting Uppsala

Mixpaint on canvas, 100x70cm

My impression of Uppsala, Sweden. This is Uppsala seen from at student’s point of view, i.e behind the curtain of the traditional Uppsala skyline, with the Cathedral and castle mainly in focus.

This is a commision job for a friend of mine, who studied in Uppsala and wanted something that speaks to those who have done so. Another theme in this painting is time passing by, and it’s illustrated by the four seasons. From the right the you see the spring turning into summer. In the middle left autumn makes the trees orange and red, and on the far right you see Uppsala downtown in the winter.

Making this painting feels like a tribute to my years of studying in Uppsala. Maybe more like a farewell, as I am moving to Stockholm…
