The Laurinic House in Stockholm
- This is a painting for a friend of mine, of the Laurinic house a.k.a. the Mälar Palace in Södermalm, Stockholm. This painting was a perfect opportunity to try of some impasto techniques, which i’ve wanted to learn for quite some time now.
I started off by laying a thick structure gesso above my sketch, just to build up some extra depth right from the start. After that i mixed lots of structure gel in my paints, and i only used bore brushes that leave nice brush marks.
As you can see, the color palette is quite orange, so i used a lot of yellow ochre and burnt sienna to achieve those color tones. The shadows are tinted with cobalt blue, just to balance out the warm and cold tones.
